Three arrested over Xeros, Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire links

Police arrested a total of three people over the weekend in connection to November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xeros, who was on the run for more than a year until he was recaptured in January.

Two men and one woman were taken into custody. A 32-year-old man arrested on Saturday is not thought to be an active member of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group. Xeros was allegedly trying to help the members of the terrorist organization escape from Korydallos Prison when he was caught.

A 39-year-old man who was allegedly arrested is referred to in notes that were exchanged between Conspiracy members and female accomplice named Angeliki, who has so far evaded arrest. Police sources also suggested that the man may be linked to the Sect of Revolutionaries, which has claimed the murders of policeman Nektarios Savvas and journalist Sokratis Giolias.

A 36-year-old woman was also arrested. She is believed to have passed 5,000 euros in cash to Angeliki on behalf of the Conspiracy group.
