What a difference a year makes, for Olympiakos

Just over one year after Olympiakos's drabbing at the hands of Armani Milano, the Greeks returned to northern Italy and scored a nine-point victory to stay alone on top of their Euroleague group and illustrate how much has changed in the team over the course of this year.

Olympiakos won 83-74 after a show of strength at the Mediolanum Forum, having led the entire game thanks to a lead built in the first quarter.

The Reds opened a gap of up to 12 points in the first period, that ended 22-12. The same margin was maintained after the second (42-32) and the third period (66-56) as Armani could only temporarily cut the distance from its visitor.

With five players reaching double scoring figures, Olympiakos strolled to a significant away win in the end, as the team of Yiannis Sferopoulos behaved entirely differently to that of his predecessor at Olympiakos, Giorgos Bartzokas a year earlier.

The twice as many assists (22 against 11) that Olympiakos had on the night compared with Armani's highlighted the teamwork of the Piraeus team.

Vassilis Spanoulis and Othello Hunter notched up 14 points each for the Greeks, who now have eight wins in nine second-group games.
