The Monitoring Committee of the Fisheries Operational programme 2007-2013 convened on Tuesday under Marine Affairs, Islands and Fisheries Minister Yiannis Diamantidis with the aim of strengthening the fisheries economy and the development of fishing regions, as well as for the European Union's credits not to remain unused for fisheries in Greece.
The fisheries operational programme, which is jointly funded by Greece and the European Union anticipates 274 million euros, of which 202 are given by the EU.

This programme appeals to fishermen and inhabitants of coastal regions who would want to proceed with the development of a fisheries business such as the construction of fisheries, fishing havens, fish farming, processing businesses for fishery products and also the replacement or withdrawal of fishing boats.
