President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias on Tuesday received National Bank of Greece CEO Apostolos Tamvakakis, who reassured him about the state of Greece's banking sector.
"There should be no concerns about the banking system which, in spite of the unprecedented crisis, is in a good state, both in terms of its capital reserves and in terms of liquidity," Tamvakakis told the president.
In fact, he described the banking sector's capital adequacy as "better than ever."

Tamvakakis expressed conviction that Greece will succeed in riding the storm and finding a way out of the crisis provided that people were prepared to work together and do what needed to be done, cooperating with Greece's European partners that were and would continue to be the country's "natural allies".
