Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived in Athens at noon on Friday, and headed shortly later to a meeting with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece at the Archbishop's residence, where he was met by Ieronymos and Greek deputy foreign minister Dimitris Dollis. The two Church officials had a brief discussion, after which the Archbishop was to host a lunch in honor of Bartholomew that would also be attended by education minister Anna Diamantopoulou.

The Ecumenical Patriarch is in Athens for the opening of the 2011 Athens Special Olympics Summer Games on Saturday.
