Cook Islands Prime Minister Henry Puna on Monday visited the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) in Athens within the framework of his government’s decision to increase the use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES).
The Cook Islands premier was briefed by the CRES board on the environment ministry “Green Islands” programmes and expressed interest in bilateral cooperation aimed at utilising Greek know-how on the development and planning of comprehensive interventions in island communities.

Cook Islands plan to increase the use of RES to 15 pct by 2015 and become 100 pct RES dependent by 2020.
