The volume of retail sales dropped 8.8 pct in April this year, compared with the same month in 2010, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Thursday.
The statistics service, in a report, said furniture-electrical appliances-home equipment stores’ sales fell 19 pct in the month, followed by pharmaceutical/cosmetics (-18.6 pct), fuel and lubricants (11.6 pct) and super markets (3.1 pct). On the other hand, bookstore recorded a 15.5 pct increase in the volume of sales.
The volume of retail sales fell 5.8 pct in April 2010.
Retail sales turnover fell 4.8 pct in April compared with the same month last year, after a decline of 0.5 pct recorded in April 2010.
