Greek Foreign Minister Stavros Lambrinidis welcomed Thursday on the  conclusion of negotiations between the EU and Croatia for the latter's accession to the EU in July 2013.
"The accession of Croatia can provide strengthened momentum for the process of the European Union's enlargement and provide the stimulus for the rest of the countries of the western Balkans for a speedup of reforms, regional cooperation and the consolidation and respect of relations of good neighbourliness, that constitute substantive preconditions for their European perspective," Lambrinidis said.

Lambrinidis reiterated that "in this effort of theirs, Greece was and remains an ardent supporter and helper."
In parallel, Lambrinidis observed that with the completion of the accession negotiations of Croatia, the EU "{is sending a strong message to Turkey, that the EU keeps its promises in full, when the candidate countries fulfill on their part as well the commitments that they have undertaken."
