Greek Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister George Nikitiadis, who is visiting the Russian capital accompanied by Greek National Tourist Organisation (GNTO) president N. Kanellopoulos, said that a 52 percent increase in Russian tourists to Greece has been recorded at Greece's General Consulate this year.

Nikitiadis announced that the messages from his contacts with Russia's biggest tourist agents, with whom he met earlier on Friday, are very positive and they in turn predict an even greater increase in the coming year as well.

The deputy minister said that another three visa-centres will be operating in Russia from the next season, that will serve tourists interested in traveling to Greece, particularly in cities having a population of over a million Kazan, Samara and Krasnoyarsk, while the network will also be widened with 177 places, where applications for visas will be accepted, in cooperation with an international post office chain. These measures will supplement those already announced in the past to facilitate the status of issuing visas for Russian citizens.
