A National Coordinating Centre whose main mission will be the managing of immigration flows to Greece will be established by decision of Citizen's Protection Minister Christos Papoutsis.
The Centre will coordinate the activities of the relevant Greek authorities at the borders and the implementation of common rules in the framework of the European Border Supervision System.

A commitment existed on the Centre's creation through the "Greece-Schengen" action plan, that Greece submitted to the European Commission.

The Centre will supervise the implementation of EU and national measures regarding the managing of borders and the coordination of cooperation with jointly responsible national authorities, with the EU's institutional organs, the relevant authorities of third countries and the international organisations that are responsible for the managing of borders.
