Greece’s highest administrative court, the Council of State, on Friday rejected an appeal against a February 2011 government decision that requires any purchases of products or services worth over 1,500 euros to be made by credit or debit card.

The measure was introduced as part of an effort to tackle tax evasion but was appealed against by two consumers.

The judges found that the appellants had not proved how the measure might damage consumers’ interest.
