Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is due to hold talks with his Italian counterpart, Enrico Letta, in Athens on Monday.
The Italian leader is due to arrive in the Greek capital on Sunday ahead of a noon meeting with Samaras at the Maximos Mansion on Monday.
Ahead of his visit, Letta took to social networking site Twitter to tell followers that he would be coming to Athens to “tell the Greeks that we want a different Europe.”
He said that his key words would be “work, culture and hope.”
He added that Athens should be a symbol of “an EU that must change.”
Letta was appointed Italy’s prime minister in April following national elections.
He is a member of the center-left Democratic Party.
