Senior high school students will have to pass exams at the end of each of their three academic years and then sit university entrance tests, according to the government’s plan for changes in secondary education.

Currently, pupils only sit university entrance exams at the end of their third and final year in high school.

The students will be examined in four subjects before they find out whether they will be accepted into university. However, the results the pupils receive in the tests taken in the previous years will also contribute toward their final mark.

The Education Ministry would like the new system to apply to pupils who will be entering senior high school this September.
