Prime Minister Antonis Samaras telephoned cabinet ministers on Monday to check with them on their progress in implementing economic reforms demanded by the troika and to urge them to stick to the timetable ahead of the scheduled return to Athens next month by foreign inspectors.

The premier, who was at the Maximos Mansion from early Monday, is keen to ensure that ministers meet all the targets set by the troika to ensure that Greece remains on track to post a primary surplus so the controversial issue of relief for the country’s huge debt burden can begin.

According to sources, Samaras warned his ministers to curb their holidays to just a few days so that crucial momentum in the reform process is not lost.
