A court in Limassol has paved the way for Cyprus’s former Interior Minister Dinos Michaelides to be extradited to Greece for questioning in connection to the bribes scandal involving ex-Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos.

The Cypriot court ordered Michaelides’s arrest, rejecting a request from the ex-minister’s lawyer that he not be remanded in custody due to health problems.

On hearing the decision, Michaelides complained of feeling unwell and was taken to hospital.

Tsochatzopoulos is currently on trial in Athens for laundering money he allegedly accepted as bribes for defense contracts. His cousin, Nikos Zigras, has accused Michaelides of being involved in the scandal.
