Man wanted over 2012 Ayia Napa killings turns himself in to Athens police

A 34-year-old man handed himself in to the anti-terrorist squad in Athens on Tuesday in connection with a mafia-style multiple murder in the Cyprus resort of Ayia Napa in June 2012.

A 34-year-old man handed himself in to the anti-terrorist squad in Athens on Tuesday in connection with a mafia-style multiple murder in the Cyprus resort of Ayia Napa in June 2012.

A 34-year-old man handed himself in to the anti-terrorist squad in Athens on Tuesday in connection with a mafia-style multiple murder in the Cyprus resort of Ayia Napa in June 2012.

A warrant had been issued for his arrest as he is suspected of being involved in the alleged contract killing of Cypriots Philippos Loucaides, 33, Marios Karaoli, 28, Giorgos Georgiou, 35, and Romanians Georgian Katalin Koman, 25, and Marcel Aourel Koleasa, 33, at a central square in Ayia Napa.

The five men were the bodyguards of Cypriot businessman Phanos Kalopsidiotis.

A Greek man is also being held on the island in connection to the shootings.
