An investigation into the bizarre deaths of two elderly siblings, whose bodies were found in their home in the Athens coastal suburb of Glyfada last July, has taken a new turn after police arrested three suspected members of a fraud ring that used forged documents to try and draw 150,000 euros from the bank accounts of the brothers, who were scrap collectors.

Two men, aged 46 and 66, and a female notary, 47, have been charged with fraud, forgery and setting up a criminal organization. The 42-year-old suspected ringleader is being sought.

The racket also tried to sell a property in the siblings’ name, according to sources who said the brothers had 550,000 euros in savings.
