Greece is mulling over introducing Albanian languages classes for second-generation Albanian students in the country, Kathimerini understands.

The issue was discussed during a meeting between Greek Education Minister Andreas Loverdos and his Albanian counterpart Lindita Nikolla in Tirana earlier this week.

Loverdos said the issue would be discussed in the joint dialogue committee. Committee experts are expected to examine the Balkan country’s school textbooks on history, geography, culture and finance to establish whether they are in line with UNESCO and Council of Europe regulations.

“Any decision requires consensus,” Loverdos said.
