Police looking for two more suspects in Xeros case

Two people arrested last week on suspicion of being accomplices of Savvas Xeros and assisting him in plans to help members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire terrorist group escape from jail were remanded in custody on Tuesday but the evidence they gave has prompted police to look for two more suspects.

Two people arrested last week on suspicion of being accomplices of Savvas Xeros and assisting him in plans to help members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire terrorist group escape from jail were remanded in custody on Tuesday but the evidence they gave has prompted police to look for two more suspects.

One of the two, a 29-year-old Albanian who was arrested in Thessaloniki last week, told authorities that he had been in touch with another Albanian man of the same age and a female lawyer named Maria.

According to the suspect’s claims, the pair passed on money, documents and messages from the jailed members of the urban guerrilla group.
