Main opposition New Democracy (ND) spokesman Yiannis Mi-helakis was scathing on Friday about measures announced by the development minister concerning National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) funds the previous day, following his talks with European officials.
According to Mihelakis, what was agreed with the European Commission was just one of 23 measures first proposed by ND leader Antonis Samaras back in February 2010, delivered nearly 18 months later.
"Unfortunately, from then until today, valuable time has been lost with unfavourable consequences for the real economy, enterprise, employment and the completion of major public works like the five major highways," Mihelakis said.
He also stressed that Greece has slipped from 5th place for the absorption of EU funds in September 2009 to 20th place in Europe at present.
