A total of 114 foreign nationals were detained and 89 arrested as illegal immigrants in the port city of Patras on Tuesday. The arrests were made during a 'sweep operation' conducted by police around the railway depot in the city's Agios Andreas district.
Dozens of illegal migrants had been living in the area in makeshift dwellings and old carriages. Police said that those under arrest were being held and processes have been launched to deport them from Greece.
