Greek Finance Alternate Minister Pantelis Economou on Friday expressed his confidence that budget revenues will continue rising after their recovery in July, achieving targets envisaged in a Medium-term Fiscal Strategy program.
Speaking in Parliament, the Greek minister said July’s budget revenues exceeded expectations by 3.16 pct without taking any additional measures in the month. “This performance is not based on VAT - which is down because of the recession - but a result of a better job by ministry services,” Economou said.
“Customs revenues growth surpassed 10 pct. If we continue this way, in autumn - when we will begin debating a new tax bill - we will have reached our targets, something completely unbelievable. We will reach our targets,” the minister said.
