An Athens prosecuting authority on Friday launched criminal proceedings against all persons responsible for attempted grand espionage, regarding the phone tapping case revealed in January 2006.
The authority issued the order for penal proceedings following a report by a prosecutor who carried out the second part of the investigation in the case.
The file will be forwarded to a regular investigator who will be called on to personify the charge against the specific persons who are reportedly involved.
The case was taken out of the archives 10 months ago where it had been placed as unknown perpetrators following the letter by the present justice minister to the prosecuting authority of the Supreme Court who in the capacity of the then president of the Parliamentary institution and transparency committee spoke of "grey zones" in the preliminary investigation and evidence that had not been evaluated.
