A fire that broke out in the northeast Attica coastal town of Kalamos at noon Saturday, in the Aghia Varvara and Agioi Apostoloi villages was contained at noon on Sunday.
The blaze threatened homes and electricity pylons in the area, before being put under control by a strong team of 16 fire engines crewed by 40 firefighters, another 18 firemen on foot, and a water-dropping helicopter.
