A wave of buying interest for blue chip stocks pushed prices up at the Athens Stock Exchange on Friday. The composite index of the market rose 1.95 pct to end at 864.94 points, for a net loss of 2.46 pct in the week. The index is down 38.83 pct so far this year.
Turnover remained an improved 108.23 million euros.
The Big Cap index jumped 2.54 pct, the Mid Cap index ended 2.99 pct higher and the Small Cap index rose 0.16 pct. Marfin Popular Bank (14.29 pct), Piraeus Bank (8.93 pct), Hellenic Petroleum (8.27 pct) and Hellenic Postbank (6.73 pct) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while Folli Follie (8.0 pct), Titan (3.29 pct) and OTE (3.91 pct) were top losers.
The Oil (7.10 pct), Personal Products (6.37 pct), Financial Services (5.27 pct) and Banks (4.90 pct) sectors scored the biggest percentage gains of the day, while Commerce (7.76 pct) and Telecoms (3.91 pct) suffered losses.
Broadly, advancers led decliners by 68 to 46 with another 56 issues unchanged. AXON Holdings (18.75 pct), Fourlis (15.75 pct) and Marfina Popular Bank (14.29 pct) were top gainers, while Zampa (9.57 pct), Alko (8.82 pct) and Folli Follie (8.0 pct) were top losers.
