The programme of Foreign Minister Stavros Lambrinidis, who will be accompanying together with Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Dollos and Health Minister Andreas Loverdos Prime Minister George Papandreou to the United States for the 66th UN General Assembly, includes several meetings.
Lambrinidis will have several bilateral contacts with counterparts of his and representatives of international organisations, while he will be participating in a series of multilateral and regional meetings of a high level, such as those focusing on terrorism, the Middle East issue and Libya, in the framework of the "Friends of Libya" group. He will also participate in the European Union's meetings with the Foreign ministers of the US and Russia.
Lambrinidis will begin his contacts programme on Saturday with a meeting he will be having with Archbishop of America Dimitrios and on Sunday with the special envoy of the UN secretary general in the negotiations between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) Matthew Nimetz.
Next weekend, Lambrinidis will go to Los Angeles and San Francisco, where he will be having contacts with representatives of the political and economic world and will be speaking at institutes and university foundations.
