A government meeting chaired by Prime Minister George Papandreou continued late into the afternoon on Wednesday at his office in Parliament, after a short recess for a roll call vote held by Parliament’s plenum.
The meeting took place with the participation of government committee members and close associates of the premier focusing on the agreement reached with the troika (EC-ECB-IMF) late on Tuesday night in the second round of the teleconference between government vice-president and finance minister Evangelos Venizelos and troika representatives.
New economic measures will be decided and specified in view of the completion of the negotiations the finance minister will have during the weekend in Washington DC where the IMF General Assembly will take place.
Venizelos will have meetings with IMF General Director Christine Lagarde and representatives of the European Commission and the European Central Bank (ECB).
A troika delegation is expected in Athens next week.
