Greek stocks ended moderately lower in the Athens Stock Exchange on Friday for a net loss of 12.83 pct in September. The composite index of the market fell 0.52 pct to end at 798.42 points, with turnover remaining a low 38.517 million euros. The Big Cap index eased 0.39 pct, the Mid Cap index fell 0.75 pct and the Small Cap index ended 0.84 pct down. Marfin Popular Bank (5.88 pct), Ellaktor (5.04 pct), Viohalco (0.90 pct) and OPAP (0.66 pct) were top gainers among blue chip stocks, while Alpha Bank (3.62 pct), Eurobank (3.12 pct) and Hellenic Postbank (1.28 pct) were top losers.
The Insurance (4.35 pct) and Chemicals (2.13 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains among the market’s sectors, while Health (3.45 pct) and Financial Services (2.49 pct) were top losers. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 70 to 50 with another 46 issues unchanged. Akritas (9.76 pct), Galaxidi (9.38 pct) and Loulis Mills (8.96 pct) were top gainers, while Avenir (16.67 pct), Centric (10.53 pct) and Varagis (9.62 pct) were top losers.
