Museums and archaeological sites throughout Greece will be closed on Wednesday as a result of the 24-hour strike called by the country's two largest umbrella trade union groups, the General Confederation of Employees of Greece (GSEE) representing the private sector and the civil servants' union federation ADEDY. Museum and archaeological site guards in the Panhellenic Union of Employees for Guarding Antiquities will participate in the strike action, in protest against measures such as the labour reserve, public-sector dismissals, the new wage scale in the public sector.
