Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos on Wednesday night met with Bank of Greece’s governor George Provopoulos, ATEbank’s governor Theodore Pantalakis and the head of the Financial Stability Fund, Panagiotis Thomopoulos, to discuss ways to boost ATEbank’s capital base. ATEbank suffered an 836 million euros loss from its participation in a Greek debt swap program from its debt portfolio (worth 5.2 billion euros) and this development makes imperative to update its restructuring program and to proceed with a share capital increase plan.

ATEbank said its losses totalled 905.1 million euros in the first six months of 2011.
