Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Giorgos Nikitiadis pointed out the need for efforts to continue in order for the EU to adopt policies for facilitation of tourists from countries that need a visa to come to Europe, speaking on Thursday at an informal council of EU Tourism Ministers that took place in Krakow.

The minister referred to the initiatives to lift the restrictions on the issue of visas and simplification of the procedures by the EU, actions that, as he stated, will boost the tourist flow from countries that interest the EU us as markets, such as Russia, China and India.

Moreover he underlined the need to promote joint European policies in tourism and proposed the creation of a series of EU programmes focusing on joint tourist packages. "A package including Paris, Madrid, and Lisbon is more attractive than another that includes only one country" he underlined.
