Playwright and entrepreneur Vangelis Livadas was found dead at his house while his wife, Smaroula Giouli, was taken to hospital in shock and suffering from breathing problems. The fire broke out on the third-floor apartment at Kolokotronis street in Glyfada, Attica.

Since he was a child, he had been enchanted by the world of theater. His first job as a producer was in 1958 and since then, he has had over 360 productions to his name, ranging from ancient Greek theater to classical theater, revues, operettas and musicals, and works from the entire theatrical spectrum. Vangelis Livadas had been married the great actress of theater and film, Smaroula Giouli, since his first entrepreneurial steps in the theater.
