Christos Tsakalos, a convicted member of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire guerilla group, was expected to face magistrate Eftichis Nikopoulos on Tuesday, with regard to his alleged involvement in a thwarted plot to escape from Attica’s maximum security Korydallos Prison.

The alleged plan was unearthed following the arrest of convicted November 17 member Christoforos Xeros a year after he disappeared while on furlough from Korydallos Prison.

In a related development, counter terrorism officers on Monday arrested Angeliki Spyropoulou, 22, an alleged accomplice of Christodoulos Xeros, at a house occupied by Tsakalos’s mother on the island of Salamina.

The latter was also detained along with a 26-year-old woman, believed to be the girlfriend of Gerasimos Tsakalos, Christos’s brother and also a convicted member of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire. The two women were expected to face a magistrate on Tuesday on charges of harboring a criminal.
