The 300-seat Greek Parliament has the largest number of state employees on loan from other agencies, a report presented to the House on Friday shows.

The report, presented by recently appointed Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who bears the brunt of the streamlining of the civil service, showed that Greece’s 300 deputies employ 1,035 civil servants transferred from other posts and 545 scientific advisers.

Inside Parliament itself, there are currently an additional 114 employees who have been transferred from other services working alongside 130 to 150 permanent parliamentary employees.

Local authorities were also shown to have a large number of employees from other posts to augment their existing staff with 422 transfers.

Greece is under pressure from its international creditors to place 4,200 employees in a mobility scheme before the end of the month to reach a target of 12,500 by September and another 12,500 by the end of the year.
