Greek political parties on Monday condemned a gas canister attack on the office of Failos Kranidiotis, a lawyer who is also a close aide to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, involved the detonation of a number of small bombs at the entrance of the building in Plaka, central Athens, causing considerable damage.

Kranidiotis was reportedly in his office at the time of the attack.

In a statement New Democracy noted that those wishing to terrorize their “political adversaries” and create insecurity were “set to fail,” while socialist PASOK stated that “blind acts of violence threaten democratic stability and ought to be condemned by all sides.”

Leftist SYRIZA also condemned the attack, along with all similar acts of violence, while Democratic Left noted that “violence, regardless of its guises, is the enemy of the state.”
