The Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) says that it is not obliged to compensate passengers with weekly, monthly and annual travelcards who were not able to use public transport last week because of a series of strikes by employees.
OASA said in a statement that it does not have to provide compensation because it was not at fault for services not being available to customers.
It said that there are no regulations which stipulate that passengers should be compensated if workers go on strike.
The action led to the Athens metro, electric railway and tram being out of service every weekday last week apart from Wednesday afternoon.
