Reports said the shutdown was not expected to affect supply as good weather is keeping demand for electricity at relatively low levels.
On Sunday, GENOP, one of Greece’s most militant unions, called on its members to take part in the industrial action called by the main unions of GSEE and ADEDY and to “get out on the street without any excuses or defeatism and prevent the voting of the measures.” A rolling 48-hour strike started late Monday.
PPC is the country’s single power retailer and produces about 70 percent of all electricity generated in the country.
