Privatisations proposal to be ready in 2-3 months

The government’s proposal for the complete package of denationalisations will be ready in 2-3 months’ time, minister of state and government spokesman Elias Mossialos said on Monday.
First, however, the Fund for exploitation of the state property, which is foreseen in the Implementation Law for the Medium-Term fiscal programme, will be set up, he clarified.
“This is the proper way. After the Fund is set up, its administration approved by parliament and the advisory committee — on which two European experts will participate — is set up, then the comprehensive proposal for the package of privatisations will be formulated,” Mossialos said.
Commenting on criticism of a ‘tax raid’, Mossialos rejected the criticism, saying that the targets are not changing, but that the mix of measures to achieve them has changed.
