It is compulsory for pensioners to take part by presenting themselves at their bank or post office, depending on where they hold the account into which their monthly pension is paid.
The deadline for the census is December 31.
Greece’s main social security fund, IKA, carried out a second census earlier this year in order to establish how many pensions were being claimed wrongly.
