A 30-year-old man was injured during an exchange of fire with police officers in the western Athenian suburb of Ilion on Monday morning.
According to reports, officers of the motorcycle-riding DIAS force ordered a driver in a car with one passenger to pull over for a routine search.
Instead of stopping, however, the two suspects tried to elude the police by firing at them and speeding off.
One of the pair was injured when officers returned fire and was taken to hospital while the second man managed to evade arrest.
